Our fleet harvests a variety of fish, but Black Sea sprat (whitebait) constitutes a major segment of our catch. The size of these small fish from the herring family range from 7 to 12 centimeters 190—220 pieces per kg, fat content varies from 5 to 14%, with a summer peak.
Sprat (Sprattus sprattus sulinus Antipa), also referred to as whitebait, are available the whole year round with a production peak during the summer. Our processing establishment produces brine frozen, salted, marinated sprat in different packaging, and traditionally headed and gutted freshly marinated sprat preserves. Similarly, other Black Sea and imported species are processed.
Other harvested and traded Black Sea fish are
- Horse mackerel (Trachurus trachurus);
- Blue Fish (Pomatomius saltatrix);
- Mullet (Mullus barbatus).
As well as Bonito (Sarda sarda), Turbot (Psetta maxima), Spiny shark (Squalus acanthias).
